EVENTS in the SCHOOL HISTORY

Some Entries from the log book and more recent events:-
 
8th September 1975 Wood End First School opened on 8th September 1975 on the premises of Stanton Middle School with Mrs Eileen Starling as the Headteacher. On 8th September 1977 the school moved into its own building on Redbridge.
2nd June 1977 All the children enjoyed a jubilee party on Stantonbury recreation ground, and each child was presented with a Jubilee mug by the PTA.

3rd October 1977 The school health officer conducted a hygiene examination throughout the school. One case of headlice was found.

March 2011 Reading Recovery
MPs Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart visited Wood End School in Stantonbury to observed pupil Saizar McConnell and teacher Helen Stickland's Reading Recovery lesson (please click on the links to read further information)

October 2010 Artist in Resident -
We were very lucky to have the opportunity to work on a project with Mrs Stevens, a local artist. It was a fantastic experience for the children to work on a large scale project with an artist, and together they produced a large mural to go on the side of our storage container on the playground and brightened up the whole area.
March 2010 Bounce for Spina Bifida -
We raised over £400 with our sponsored bounce (and had a lot of fun!).

23rd April 2004 Mark Wasserberg, the Principle from Stantonbury Campus, cut the ribbon at the grand opening of our new Foundation outside area canopy and the web site going live.

September  2003 Wood End First School Celebrate 25 years
This is known as the tree of life and was made to commemorate 25 years of Wood End School and surrounding area. On each leaf there is a comment made by the pupils about the School.
